Cornestone Laying at
Redemptoris Mater Missionary Seminary
Last December 3,
2011, on the Feast of St Francis Xavier, Cardinal Rosales laid the
cornerstone for the building of the Redemptoris Mater Missionary
Seminary of Manila on Jerusalem Street at Multinational Village in
Parañaque. In his homily, the Cardinal said that St. Francis
Xavier is a true model for missionaries for Asia, in particular China
and India, with his burning zeal for preaching and love for God. With
16 priests already ordained, this seminary will produce more priests
for the New Evangelization for Asia. At present the seminary rents a
house on G. Plana Street in San Juan with 18 seminarians from six
different countries.
The rector, Fr.
Paolo Benetton, walks with the first community of the Neo Catechumenal
Way in Mary the Queen Parish — the first parish that welcomed the Way
in the Philippines in 1975 under Fr. Juan Andechaga, S.J.
