The Apostleship of Prayer (AP) was established in September 1968. Fr. Ben Sim, S.J., Mary the Queen Parish Priest, is the present spiritual director. The mission of the AP is to encourage and spread the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through:
Eucharist and Daily morning offering. The mass is the source from which the Church derives its sanctifying power. Members are urged to attend mass daily. When such is not possible, they can offer their prayers, work, joy and suffering in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the mass. This is what is meant by the daily morning offering.
Sacred Heart devotion. God's love as expressed in the pierced Heart of Jesus is the motivating force for AP member to live apostolic lives by consecrating themselves to Jesus and by helping bring Christ's love to the world.
Devotion to Mary. Members are encouraged to say at least a decade of the Rosary every day as a devotion to Mary, Mother of God. By offering their lives "through the Immaculate Heart of Mary," AP members are reminded to identify themselves with her Spirit and virtues.
Loyal concern for the Church. The church is Christ's body and through the cross, she carries on His Saving Mission. Realizing the power of prayer as a basis for Christian activity, AP members help by volunteering their services for apostolic activity, when they can. AP members can make a morning Prayer for the intention of the Holy Father and in this way help the Church serve and sanctify the world.
A Spirit of prayer. AP members should cultivate the practice of prayer, especially the prayerful reading of the Scripture
Scapulars are imposed on new members every year on the Feast of the Sacred Heart. At present there are more than 1,000 registered members in the parish.
Their regular activities include:
Assisting in the Murang Bigas project and the Free Clinic of the Parish every week.
Running a soup kitchen every first Friday for children below the age of five and their mothers.
Taking care of the 7 AM Mass on First Fridays. The Mass is followed by a breakfast meeting with their spiritual director.
The AP has 32 promoters, who take care of the first Friday 7 AM Mass and who also visit homes of those who wish to have the most Sacred Heart of Jesus enthroned
